Public Advisory Council of Political Parties at the Moscow City Duma
Public Advisory Council of Political Parties at the Moscow City Duma was established in 2010 in accordance with Resolution of the Moscow City Duma No. 43 of February 17, 2010 to provide additional conditions for taking into account the political opinions of general public.
The Council is a consultative organ at the Moscow City Duma that is called to conduct political consultations on a broad range of publicly important issues to ensure interaction among bodies of state power of the city of Moscow and political parties that passed state registration as appropriate and participated in the elections to the Moscow City Duma of the present convocation.
The Council is a public organization and is formed for the period of powers of the Duma deputies of the next convocation.
The main functions of the Council include preparation of statements on draft legal acts submitted and prepared for submission to the Duma, on the proposals submitted to the Duma for addressing the city problems; preparation of proposals on improvement of the legislation of the city of Moscow; regular informing the governing bodies of the parties represented in the Council about the lawmaking activities in the Duma.
The work of the Council and preparation of its meetings are organized by the deputy of the Duma in charge of the Council activities who is appointed by the decision of the Duma and who at the Council meetings has a consultative vote. By the results of the Council activities for a year the Council coordinator makes a report at the Duma meeting.
